(PR) Wishtrend Mandelic Acid Review

20:49:00

Been using this for a month and all I can say was, this wasn't something I expected it would be initially! I am a fan of BHA all along, AHA too but AHA is something I would only use when my skin texture feels bumpy and rough as it kinda stings my skin. BHA had been one of my all time facourite as I have really oily skin and blackheads here and there.

Firstly, I would like to share more about, what exactly is Mandelic Acid? I totally can relate if you had never heard of it before as I really didn't beforehand either!

Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid derived from bitter almonds. It is more gentle than Gylcolic Acid but penetrates lesser.

It Targets THREE Main Skin Issues.
1. Wrinkles/Fine lines
It helps by accelerating the cell turnover, by dissolving tiny bonds that hold skin cells together. It aids by removing the dead skin on the skin surface which often causes dull complexions or even fine lines.
Furthermore, It strengthens collagen, which makes your face firmer and more youthful.
Mandelic Acids thins out the outermost layer of the skin called the stratum corneum(aka horny layer). A thinner stratum corneum gives skin a smoother and youthful look.
Don't forget it not only helps to brighten up skin but also protect your skin against free radical damage.
2. Hyperpigmentation & Discoloration
Usage of Mandelic Acid results in a more even out complexion and also in correcting skin tones.
Ever encountered sensitivity like stingy effects when using AHA? That is because of the deep pigmentations different individuals have and this irritation might stimulate pigment-producing cells to produce more melanin(pigmentation). That is why SUNSCREEEEN is needed when you use AHA! Good news is Mandelic Acid is gentler and a safer alternative.
3. Acne
Mandelic Acid contains antibacterial properties which are extremely helpful in helping with acne. It regulates sebum production which lowers the risk of an acne outbreak. Studies had shown that it helps cystic acnes too.

What is it:
Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is a hydrating and nonirritating exfoliant that can be used daily.
Formulated with Mandelic Acid, which can be used without any irritation even on sensitive skin,
the Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is an exfoliating treatment that improves the skin tone and
texture while boosting the effectiveness of other products.

Now,
Let's talk about the main ingredients available.

Mandelic acid
As one of the AHA ingredients, it has a large molecular size which causes very little irritation to the skin. It helps to improve pigmentation as well as to restore aged skin. It also has antibacterial properties that are effective for inflammatory acne.

Beta-Glucan
Moisturizing, redness reduction, anti-inflammatory and soothing effects.

Panthenol
Also known as vitamin B5, it acts as a humectant and moisturizer, improving the skin’s abilities to regenerate and to maintain hydration. It is also used to prevent inflammation and to prevent itching.

Centella Asiatica Extract
Helps regenerate damaged skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate
As a natural moisturizing factor, it attracts moisture and helps retain moisture within the skin, preventing dryness after exfoliation.

Helps with pigmentation to improve the skin tone and texture. As a mild exfoliator that works on the surface of the skin, safe to use even for sensitive skin to avoid the use of harsh chemical exfoliation. Effective for acne due to its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties.

To preserve it's 'freshness', every bottle comes sealed with an aluminium foil as seen above.

It's very watery and absorbs really fast.

Does it does what it claims?
Claim 1: Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is a hydrating and nonirritating exfoliant that can be used daily.
Although it's said to be suitable for daily use even for sensitive skin, but for super sensitive skin type like me, I would recommend 3 times a week only.
Claim 2: Formulated with Mandelic Acid, which can be used without any irritation even on sensitive skin.
It still stung me a little but was really lesser as compared to the AHA one. I find myself wanting to reach out for this more than Cosrx AHA these days.
Claim 3: The Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is an exfoliating treatment that improves the skin tone and texture while boosting the effectiveness of other products.
Try using this and you will notice clearer skin tone. It looks brightened and softer. However, it didn't help with pores.

| Thoughts |
If you are looking for a gentle acid or if you are new to acid, yes, try this out. To me I had not been using physical scrubs for a year. Ever since then, I had been relying hard on chemical exfoliants. BHA, AHA and Niacinamide had been a few of my favourites. Now I am glad to add in Mandelic Acid. It helps with my close comedones especially when used with BHA together. There isn't any tacky or sticky residue after application. I use this after my cleansing > FTE most of the times. Best was it didn't smell as bad as AHA.
